Paul was born in Joplin, Missouri to Bill and Janet Moreland. When he was six years old his parents moved to Brazil to serve as missionaries there. From then until his teen years the Moreland family lived first in Belém, Pará and then in Araguaína, Goiaz (now Araguaína, Tocantins). The first two years of his formal schooling were spent in the Amazon Valley Academy in Belém. The rest was spent in the "MoreBauch" one room school and in various schools in the US while the Moreland family was in the US on "furlough" In 1983 Paul started studies at Ozark Bible College (now known as Ozark Christian College) in Joplin. He graduated in 1987 with a Certificate of Ministry.

Sheri was born in Bogotá, Colombia and was adopted by Mark and Barbara Stringer when she was eight months old. She spent her childhood in the Eastern Plains of Colombia as her parents ministered in different small towns. Eventually they settled in Villavicencio and later moved to Bogotá where Sheri finished high school. Following graduation she worked as a bi-lingual secretary for MAF then went to the US to enroll at Ozark Christian College in Joplin in 1985.

Paul and Sheri were married on June 26, 1987 in Montrose, Colorado. In December of that year they left for South America with their plane tickets in hand and $150 a month pledged support. They moved to Balsas, Maranhão in north eastern Brazil. They worked with a small congregation outside of Balsas, preparing the people there to continue the work of the church before they moved on to a more populated area. The congregation there continues strong in the Lord. A few years after the Morelands left they initiated and completed a construction project with no foreign funds.

In late 1994 the Morelands left Balsas for home service in the US before joining Mark and Barbara Stringer in a new church work in the city of Ibagué, Tolima in central Colombia. They joined Mark and Barbara Stringer, Steve and Nancy Phillips, Benjamin and Jovita Guzman and Kristin Plettner in a team effort to establish and prepare the church there.  The Morelands concentrated on family ministry and training men during their term of service in Ibagué. After a brief time in the US for home service the Morelands returned to Ibagué for a year during which it became obvious that the church did not need their services any longer but had reached the point where they needed to continue on their own.

In January of 2000 the Morelands moved to Barranquilla to work with a church plant/leadership training project started by missionaries with Team Expansion. They joined as the onsite disciplers for the young men who had been selected for the project. Once the church was planted and the other missionaries decided to pull the young men out for other projects the Morelands left the Gamaliel and Marylin Roa family heading up the work in Barranquilla and moved to Pereira, Risaralda back in the heart of Colombia's coffee growing region.

The Morelands arrived in Pereira at the end of January, 2002. They began to seek contacts with non-christians and soon found opportunities to teach people about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In June, 2002 they began to have public meetings with an initial attendance of 10 people including adults and children. In July of 2002 Mario Gil became the first convert in the city of Pereira and was baptized in the San Juan river.

The work in Pereira continues. In the first year and a half following the beginning of public meetings the membership grew from 6 to 21.  This growth was almost equally divided between new converts and transfers from other cities as people in other congregations moved to Pereira.  Current efforts include Christian education of our men, women, youth and children so that they will be prepared to continue Christ's work throughout their lives.
